Blood Donation Drive
Photo Contest Entries

Monday, Aug. 26 is the deadline
to enter your favorite Diamond Bar
photos into the City’s Through My
Lens photo contest.
You may enter up to three photographs that 昀椀t any three of the 昀椀ve contest categories
– people, pets, places, nature, and Keep it Local, a new category this year that aims to
highlights local dining and shopping experiences with people as the focal point.
Launched by the City in 2008 and cosponsored by the Diamond Bar Community
Foundation (DBCF), Through My Lens aims to celebrate the various facets of community
living and the photographic talents of residents of all ages.
A winner and an honorable mention will be selected in each of the 昀椀ve categories for
each age group – youth (age 17 and younger) and adult (age 18 and older). Additionally,
the contestant with the highest overall score will be named grand prize winner.
Photographers of the entries selected for recognition will receive certi昀椀cates from the City
Council, and cash prizes courtesy of the DBCF – $50 for honorable mention, $100 for winner,
and $150 for grand prize.

Informational Meetings about
Waste Hauler Transition
There are still a few opportunities for residents and
business owners to learn more about the upcoming
waste hauler transition.
Last month, Waste Management and Valley Vista Services started hosting
informational meetings both in person and online, and there are a few
remaining dates:

The meetings are designed to give community members the opportunity to
learn more and ask questions about what they can expect with their new waste
hauler. Topics covered will include service rates, what goes in which cart or bin,
how to dispose of bulky items and hazardous waste, and how to make changes
to service accounts.

American Red Cross is holding a blood donation
drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. at
the Diamond Bar Center. At this drive, all registered
donors will receive free A1C testing, which
measures average blood sugar levels over the past
couple of months, to help them manage or even
prevent diabetes.
Individuals interested in participating in this drive
can schedule an appointment in person at the
Diamond Bar Center, 1600 Grand Ave., or online
at www.redcross.org/give-blood using code
"CODB". To speed up the donation process,
individuals are encouraged to complete their predonation reading and health history questionnaire
prior to the blood drive by visiting
www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.

Bring them to the City’s free paper shredding and
e-waste drive-thru collection event taking place
Saturday, Aug. 9.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or earlier if paper
shredding or material collection reaches capacity before
then) in the AQMD parking lot, located at
21865 Copley Drive. This is a drive-through event that
means participants remain in their vehicle while event
staff unload their materials.
This event is open only to Diamond Bar residents – proof
of city residency will be required. Additionally, no business
waste will be allowed.
