Beerfest Featuring Taste of Diamond Bar

Keep FOG Out of the Drain
Most people do not think twice about rinsing
a greasy pan or pouring leftover cooking oil
down the kitchen drain. But fats, oils, and
grease, commonly known as FOG, build up in
layers inside pipes over time, leading to clogs,
backups, and costly sewer over昀氀ows.
Common sources of FOG include cooking
oils, butter, dairy products, meat juices and
fat, and condiments such as salad dressings
and sauces.
With the exception of lightly greasy
compostable items such as pizza boxes,
paper towels and napkins, which can go
in the organics cart, FOG belongs in the
trash. For small amounts, wipe from pots and
utensils with a paper towel before washing.
For larger amounts, let it cool and pour into a
sealed container before throwing it away.
Preparations are now underway for the third consecutive Beerfest
featuring Taste of Diamond Bar that is set to take place Sunday, Sept.
20, at the Diamond Bar Center.
Hosted by the Diamond Bar Community Foundation in collaboration
with the City, the fundraiser runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and is part of the City's
Keep It Local: Shop Diamond Bar First initiative, aimed at supporting
and promoting local businesses.
Attendees will sample food and drink offerings from local restaurants
and area breweries and wineries, enjoy live entertainment, and take
part in lawn games and activities.
Tickets are $45 and include free parking and a souvenir glass. The event
is open to adults 21 and older.
Proceeds support the Diamond Bar Community Foundation's mission
to preserve, protect, and enhance the quality of life in Diamond Bar
through programs and facilities that address the community's cultural,
recreational, and social needs.

Paper Shredding
and E-Waste Collection
From outdated electronics to sensitive
paperwork, residents can dispose of both for
free Sunday, Aug. 9. The drive-up, drop-off
event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AQMD
parking lot, 21865 Copley Drive.
Residents may bring old televisions,
computers, printers, cell phones, cords, and
other electronics for free recycling. Paper
shredding is available for up to two 13-gallon
bags of con昀椀dential documents, which
will be shredded onsite. Staff will assist with
removing items from vehicles.
Early arrival is recommended as services
end when capacity is reached. Participants
must provide a valid ID or other proof of
identi昀椀cation showing a Diamond Bar
address.

Water Restrictions Remain in Effect Year-Round
With warmer weather on the way, this is a reminder that year-round
watering restrictions are in effect. The Walnut Valley Water District
(WVWD) has mandatory watering restrictions for both residential and
nonresidential properties.
Landscape watering is limited to three days per week with a maximum
of 15 minutes per session. No watering is allowed between 8 a.m. and 5
p.m., during rain, or within 48 hours after rain. Water runoff onto streets,
driveways, sidewalks, and gutters is prohibited. Leaks must be repaired
within 72 hours of District noti昀椀cation.
Additional restrictions are also in effect. Washing hard surfaces such
as sidewalks, driveways, and patios with water is prohibited except
for health and safety needs. Vehicle washing is only allowed using a
hand-held bucket or a hose equipped with a self-closing shut-off nozzle.
Operating decorative water fountains or features is prohibited, and
initial 昀椀lling of residential swimming pools or 昀椀lling more than one foot of
depth is not allowed.
