Photo Contest Deadline Nears
Diamond Bar residents have until Monday, Aug. 24, to enter their photographs
in the City's 18th annual Through My Lens photo contest. Cosponsored by the
Diamond Bar Community Foundation, the contest aims to raise community spirit
and celebrate the city’s beauty and character through the lenses of residents.
The contest invites photographers of all experience levels to submit original
photos in 昀椀ve categories: People, Pets, Places, Nature, and Keep It Local – from
striking wildlife moments and candid scenes to dining experiences and shopping
trips around town.
Entries are accepted in two age divisions — youth 17 and younger and adults
18 and older. Participants may submit up to two high-resolution photos in JPG or
JPEG format, each in a different category, taken within city limits.

Photos will be judged on visual impact, creativity, memorable content, and
image quality. In each category, the winner receives $100 and the honorable
mention receives $50. An overall grand prize winner receives an additional $150.
Winning photographs and honorable mentions will be added to a gallery at
City Hall, and may appear on City and DBCF websites, newsletters, social media
platforms, and other marketing materials with appropriate credit.

City Budget Presentation on Aug. 19
Where does the City get its funding and how is it
spent? Interested participants can 昀椀nd out at a free
presentation taking place Wednesday, Aug. 19.
County Seeks Election Workers
for General Election
Titled "Understanding the City Budget," the presentation
takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Diamond Bar City
Hall, located at 21810 Copley Drive. It covers how the
budget works, where revenue comes from, and how
the budget process guides decisions on funding the
various programs and services residents rely on.
Starting this month, the Los Angeles County RegistrarRecorder/County Clerk will be recruiting election workers to
help with the November 3, 2026 General Election.
Serving as an election worker is an opportunity to be part of
the democratic process, give back to the community, and
earn money. No prior experience is necessary, and paid
training covering voter registration procedures and ballot
handling protocols is provided.
The budget presentation is one in a series of sessions
offered through City Government Explained, a
program designed to provide an in-depth look at
local government operations and the real impact City
services have on the community.
The County is looking for English-speaking and bilingual
workers, with a particular need for speakers of Thai,
Japanese, Khmer, and Korean. Election workers receive
$100 for each day they serve at a vote center, plus $80 for
completing training. Bilingual workers may qualify for an
additional $100 stipend. Veterans and community members
can earn up to $1,180. Students can earn up to $480 and
also receive community service credits and an excused
absence from school on days they serve.
City Government Explained is free and open to anyone
13 and older who lives, works, or attends school
in Diamond Bar. Class size is limited and advance
registration is strongly encouraged.

Most applicants must be 18 or older, a U.S. citizen or
legal permanent resident, and able to provide their own
transportation to an assigned vote center. High school
students as young as 16 may apply with a signed consent
form from a parent and teacher.
