Contract Instructor Opportunity

love to share with others? The City is seeking
contract instructors to teach community
classes, programs, and camps.
Back-to-School Safety Reminders
With students heading back to school this month, residents are reminded
to plan extra travel time and be alert for school buses and children
traveling to and from school. The following tips cover school zone safety
for drivers, pedestrians, and school bus awareness:
Driving
• Slow down and stay alert, especially in residential
neighborhoods and school zones.
• Look for pedestrians everywhere; children may not be
walking where expected and can be hard to see at dusk,
dawn, or in poor weather.
• Enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully.
• Never pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk as there may
be pedestrians crossing that you cannot see.
Individuals with expertise in arts, 昀椀tness, life
skills, language, or other enrichment subjects
are encouraged to apply. Proposals can
be geared toward any age group and
experience level.
The deadline to submit a proposal is 4 p.m.

Walking
• Cross at corners using traf昀椀c signals and crosswalks
whenever possible.
• Look left, right, and left again before crossing, and continue
looking while crossing.
• Make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of
them; do not assume that because you can see the driver,
the driver can see you.
• Never run into the street or cross between parked cars.
School Buses
• Allow extra following distance behind a school bus - amber
昀氀ashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop.
• It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus with red 昀氀ashers
on or a stop sign arm extended. On two-lane or undivided
roads, traf昀椀c must stop in both directions. Do not proceed
until students have cleared the roadway.

Residents who have not yet shared their priorities with the City still have
time to do so. The Preserve Diamond Bar questionnaire is available online at
www.diamondbarca.gov/preserveDB, and paper forms can be 昀椀lled out at
the Diamond Bar Center (1600 Grand Avenue), Heritage Park (2900 S. Brea
Canyon Road), and the Diamond Bar Library (21800 Copley Drive).
Launched in December 2025, Preserve Diamond Bar was created to keep
residents informed and involved as the City navigates a projected budget
shortfall. The City's 昀椀scal year 2026–2027 budget has since been adopted,
balanced only after a series of service reductions, and community input will
continue to help shape decisions in the years ahead.
